Car Move “How far can your car move if it doesn’t have an engine?” My girlfriend posed this question one evening when I called and offered to drive to dinner. She’s always been a bit of a smart-aleck, but this time she had a good reason for asking. You see, we had been taking her car on our dates since I first met her six months ago. My car, an old Mustang I was restoring, was a work in progress, not yet street-ready. I never planned to sell so soon, but last week, I got a phone call from a collector in Ohio who wanted to buy it from me as-is. His offer was more than generous, and since I’ve been a bit squeezed for cash lately, I agreed to the deal. Secretly, just like my girlfriend did, I wondered how he was going to accomplish the 2,000 mile car move without an engine.
Thanks to the collector, not only did I pocket some cash, but I got a lesson in vehicle shipping as well. He made arrangements for the car move through a vehicle shipping company called Momentum Transport. He told me that he didn’t have to do a thing after he contacted them – they handled all the details of vehicle shipping, from issuing the paperwork, to dispatching the car transporter, to tracking the progress of the car transporter while it was out on the highway.
The driver of the car transporter came by to collect the Mustang on Wednesday. I’ll admit, I was feeling a twinge of regret as I waved good-bye and headed over to the motorcycle dealer to put that cash down on a new bike.
